Pizza Bread
- 6-7 c. white flour
- 1 T. yeast
- 2 c. milk
- 1/2 c. water
- 1/4 c. butter or margarine
- 1/4 c. sugar
- 1/2 t. salt
- 2 t. Italian seasoning
- 3/4 c. pizza sauce
- 20 -25 slices pepperoni, cut into small pieces
- 2 c. shredded mozzarella cheese
- 1/2 c. grated Parmesan cheese
2. Add milk, water, butter or margarine, sugar and salt to a small saucepan. Heat over medium heat until warm. Pour into large bowl with the flour and yeast. Stir or beat until well combined. Slowly work in remaining flour and Italian seasoning. Knead (by hand or with an electric mixer) until dough is smooth and elastic, about 8-10 minutes. Cover and let dough rise for 1 hour in a lightly greased bowl.
3. Divide dough into 2 or 3 portions, depending on how big you want your loaves to be. Roll each ball of dough into a rectangle.4. Spread about 1/4 c. pizza sauce on each section of dough.5. Sprinkle the diced pepperoni and cheeses on top of the pizza sauce.6. Roll dough tightly, jelly-roll style, and pinch the seams shut.7. Bake at 375 degrees for 20-25 minutes.

YUMMY! That looks yummy!
This sounds amazing! I'm going to try this for lunch either this week or next.
This is very similar to the strombolis that my school used to serve when I was growing up. Sometime during junior high, the cooks stopped making it because it was too much of a pain, but I'd love to make this for my family. Thanks! :)
Oh my this looks so DELISH! I'm gonna have to try it this weekend. Thanks for sharing! :)

That pizza bread looks so good. I think I will have to make it.
Great recipe.
Mmm, that looks very yummy.
Yum! That would be fun to have in the freezer to pull out for lunches or a fast snack or dinner...did you freeze the other loaves before or after they were cooked? I'm going to do this next week!!

i tried this last night and it was great! :) thanks.
This was so wonderfully easy & delicious!
I'm featuring it tomorrow on my blog because I was just so happy with how it turned out.
Thanks for sharing!
I feel silly because no one else has asked this question. But... there is 1/4 c butter in the list of ingredients but I don't see it anywhere in the instructions.
Eden - Wow! Thanks for pointing that out. I'll fix the post right now.
Just to let you know though, the butter or margarine goes with the milk and other ingredients right at the beginning of step 2.
Sorry about that!
I just love your site! Real food! Lately I've been baking bread like crazy so I took your idea and made pizza bread with some dough to take as my "covered dish" to go to our friends' house. Everyone LOVED it! I took home an empty dish! I love it when that happens!
This was so yummy! When you freeze it, do you defrost it first? Thanks!
